This text presents the evolution of the Formula SAE project, with an emphasis on the electric vehicle modality, contextualizing its emergence in the international and national scenario, and highlighting the participation of UFERSA through the E-CACTUS team since 2019. The article highlights the importance of the project in the academic and professional training of students, who develop technical skills in automotive engineering and non-technical skills such as teamwork, leadership, time management, and resilience, within an organization similar to that of a company. It also addresses the financial and structural challenges for building an electric vehicle in Brazil, especially due to the dependence on imported components, as well as the relevance of partnerships with sponsoring companies. Finally, the text emphasizes the opportunities generated by the project, such as the institutional enhancement of the university, scientific production, the potential for technological innovation, and the competitive advantage provided to students in the job market.
