Letter from the editor

Abstract

The text presents the Editor's Letter from the Electronic Journal of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, highlighting the importance of university extension within the context of the University Triad—teaching, research, and extension—plus technological innovation, according to the guidelines of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC). It emphasizes that extension is a mandatory activity in academic training, fundamental for bringing the university closer to society, promoting the practical application of knowledge, and developing technical and soft skills in students. The editorial highlights the role of the Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering courses at UFERSA/Mossoró, which in 2025 will consolidate themselves as a reference in extension projects and events, listing various initiatives, student groups, junior enterprises, and technological competitions. Finally, the text reinforces that these actions strengthen the professional training of students, broaden institutional visibility, and generate a positive social impact through innovation and the sharing of knowledge with the community.
