Resumo

The technology of grafted seedlings with the UFERSA BRSRM 153 cultivar is generating a significant increase in areas previously occupied by melon cultivation, especially in smallholder settlements, which characterizes the high profitability of the crop due to its increased shelf life, in addition to the increase in producers' income from the sale of the fruit and its derivatives. The experiment was conducted at the Raio de Sol farm in the municipality of Baraúna, Rio Grande do Norte. To obtain the rootstocks, seeds of the UFERSA BRSRM 153 cultivar of the species Passiflora foetida L. were used, from fruits originating from the seed production field of the cultivar, located in the educational-experimental horticulture nursery belonging to the Center for Agricultural Sciences, Mossoró campus. The experimental design was randomized blocks with 4 treatments, 4 blocks, and 5 plants per plot. The treatments consisted of 4 genotypes of yellow passion fruit grafted and listed as: T1 - BRS Gigante Amarelo, T2 - BRS Sol do Cerrado, T3 - SCS 437 Catarina, and T4 - Cultivar Solar. The following variables were evaluated: stem diameter 2 cm below and above the grafting line, initial graft development, and precocity of production among the cultivars used. Therefore, all treatments can be used in large-scale commercial production of grafted passion fruit trees. The cultivars SCS 437 Catarina and BRS Sol do Cerrado showed precocity and good development of the diameter of the grafted parts, respectively, in relation to the other cultivars.
