Macroscopic evaluation of wounds located in distal portion of thoracic members of dogs repaired by means of bipediculated flap and immobilized with plaster

Abstract

With the objective of testing a skin support the immobilized distance and with plaster, had been used six dogs, crossbred, healthy, with average weight of 10 kg, who had in the torax ventrolateral space the formation of a flap bipediculated for reconstruction of cutaneous defects created in distal extremities and, later had been submitted the macroscopic evaluations of the cicatrisation and reply of the animals immobilization. The necessary time for total cicatrisation was of 21 days, being necessary 14 days of immobilization of the member, together to the thorax with bandages covered with cotton and plaster. The use of the bipediculated flap presented resulted satisfactory in the closing of wounds located in distal extremities of the members of dogs the tolerance to the technique of immobilization with plaster was presented changeable, having wants to take in consideration the temperament of the animal.
