WHETHER INFLUENCES ON REPRODUCTIVE ACTIVITY OF MANGALARGA MARCHADOR BREED IN THE STATE OF SERGIPE, BRAZIL

Abstract

To determine which period of reproductive activity of the mares Mangalarga Marchador created in the state of Sergipe - Brazil, it took place an experiment during the whole year of 2004, at the Vazaringuy Embryo Transfer Center. Thirty animals were used aging 48 to 84 months, maintained during the whole day with small amount of vegetable covering, receiving additional food composed of sugar cane forage, Napier grass, commercial ration and mineral mix. Daily evaluations were accomplished, through trans-rectal ultrasound for detection of fertile estrus, correlating with the environmental data of luminous incidence of the area. It was observed that between the months of October and April it hapened a rate of estrus of 100%, with positive correlation in relation to the rate of daily brightness. Therefore, there is an indicative that assisting nutritional and sanitary demands of the mares Mangalarga Marchador in regions with similar brightness rate of this study, it is feasible to obtain a covering season more prolonged in relation to other regions of the country.
