Author Guidelines

Languages

Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian, and German.

Nature of contributions

Manuscripts must be unpublished and original. At the time of submission, the author must inform if the work has already been published or submitted to other scientific dissemination venues. REJUR does not accept manuscripts currently under evaluation by other journals. To avoid any characterization of self-plagiarism, the reproduction of excerpts from previously published essays must always be accompanied by the corresponding reference and citation. The submitting author must declare, in the comments to the editor at the time of submission, the effective contribution of each individual listed as an author, as well as indicate any conflicts of interest (negative conflicts must also be reported) and funding sources.

Minimum qualification and number of authors

Maximum of three authors, with at least one holding a Doctoral degree. In all cases, all authors must, at minimum, have a Master’s degree in progress. Exceptionally, articles by doctoral students without doctoral co-authorship are accepted, provided the editorial decision to accept or reject considers the evaluation flow at the time of submission.

Mandatory registration information

During the submission process, authors are required to provide the following data:

  • Link to ORCID: register here. (To insert the ORCID into our platform, simply remove the letter "s" from the HTTP protocol in the link, e.g., http://orcid.org/XXXX).

  • Link to CV LATTES (for Brazilian authors)

  • Biography

  • Academic affiliation: institution, city, state, and country

  • Authors WITHOUT a Doctoral degree must NOT register as reviewers.

Number of pages

From 12 to 25 pages, including all elements. Articles outside this range may be accepted at the Editor-in-Chief's discretion.

General formatting

  • Extension *.docx (Microsoft Word).

  • Single line spacing.

  • Font "Calibri", sizes "12" (body text), "11" (abstract and resumo), and "10" (direct citations and footnotes).

  • Margens of 2.5cm on all sides (top, bottom, right, and left).

  • Use italics for emphasis instead of bold or underlining.

  • Introduction, conclusion, and reference sections must not be numbered.

Title

  • Up to 12 words.

  • Include an English translation (general) or a Portuguese translation (for articles in English).

Resumo and Abstract

Between 100 to 200 words each, followed by three to five keywords separated by semicolons.

Summary

Continuously describe the topics and subtopics of the work, separating them with semicolons.

Prohibition of the author-date system

Citations must be made in full through footnotes, without using the author-date system.

References

Listed at the end according to ABNT standards, with italics for emphasis. Only include works effectively cited throughout the text.

Simultaneous submission

In case of simultaneous submission, besides immediate rejection of the article and notification to the respective journal(s), the Ufersa Law Journal reserves the right to refuse new submissions from all involved authors for 1 (one) year, starting from the date the fact is discovered.

Plurality of authors

To ensure greater pluralization, we will not publish articles from authors who have published in the Ufersa Law Journal within the last year, aiming for the equitable profusion and diffusion of science.

Failure to comply with any of the conditions stated above will result in the summary rejection of the article during the desk review process.

Blind peer review

All submissions will undergo a preliminary desk review by the Journal Editors. Once pre-approved, the material will undergo a double-blind peer review by external ad hoc reviewers. Evaluation results will be shared with the authors, and instructions will be detailed based on the reviewers' indications. The contribution may be: accepted, rejected, marked for mandatory corrections, or requested for resubmission after adjustments.

Research funding

REJUR advises authors of their duty to inform the editors and indicate the circumstances of funding received for the development of the research under evaluation.

Research Ethics Committee

According to Brazilian law, "research involving human beings is research that, individually or collectively, involves a human participant in their totality or parts, and involves them directly or indirectly, including the handling of their data, information, or biological materials."

REJUR advises its authors that all research involving human beings must be approved by Research Ethics Committees. For more information, visit Plataforma Brasil and consult national standards on CEP/CONEP (CNS Resolutions n. 466/2012, n. 510/2016, n. 674/2022, and CNS Operational Standard n. 1/2013).

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Our goal is to strengthen scientific integrity and the trust of readers, authors, and reviewers, encouraging the conscious use of these tools without compromising publication quality or academic ethics. Inappropriate or undeclared use of AI may result in summary rejection or retraction of published articles.

Author obligations

Only humans can be considered authors and publicly responsible for the published content. AI tools should not be listed as co-authors, as they lack moral, ethical, or legal responsibility for the work.

Any use of AI tools must be identified by the authors during the submission process. These mentions will be replicated by the Editors in the published file.

REJUR establishes that AI tools cannot be used to produce original scientific content, develop hypotheses, analyses, or conclusions. Authors are responsible for thoroughly reviewing any content generated or edited by AI tools, assuming full responsibility for any inaccuracies, errors, or misconduct resulting from such use.

Reviewer obligations

Critical analysis and the final decision must reflect the judgment of a human reviewer. REJUR does not recommend the use of AI for checking manuscript information during the evaluation process due to known limitations, such as the potential for outdated, biased, or incorrect information. Reviewers must verify if authors have fully and correctly declared the use of AI in the manuscript, assessing whether this declaration is consistent with the content presented.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.
