Abstract

The objective of this work was to evaluate the lactation persistence of Murrah buffalos managed on pasture in Northeast of Brazil. The farm milking data from a herd of 50 cows, from 2007 to 2009 were analyzed using measurement methods based on rate of the production of milk and the variation of milk throughout lactation. The milk yield peak was observed during the seventh week of lactation and a production of 7,440 kg/cow. The production during lactation was reduced up to 48.74% when compared to the peak of lactation, with this loss corresponding to 7.3% per month. Keywords: Milk control, milk production, milking machines.
