Monitoramento do desgaste da ferramenta de HSS no processo de torneamento através da potência consumida

During the machining process, special attention must be paid to the lifespan of the applied cutting tool because, depending on the type of material or, even due to the time of the process, its wear increases, becoming a problem. In this research, the wear monitoring of high speed steel tool for turning process was carried out, through an experimental apparatus, also verifying the power consumed by the lathe during the evolution of this wear. Five high speed steel tools with dimensions ¼" x 4" were used, sharpening α = 8°, β = 62° and γ = 20°, machining an ABNT 1045 steel, with Vc = 15m/min, n = 118rpm, ap = 0.5mm and f = 0.094mm/rev. As stopping criterion, the average flank wear value of 0.30mm was adopted, according to the ISO 3685 Standard, measured with an electron microscope. After that, a calibration curve of wear x power consumed by the machine tool was drawn up. To validate this curve, three tools were tested, and its wear graphs were obtained with adequate statistical treatment. The measured values were statistically equal to the confidence interval values, thus validating the wear curve in relation to the power obtained.
