Abstract

Photovoltaic systems connected to the grid (On-grid) mostly of distributed generation, in which their generation is close to consumption, have an influence on the electrical grid in the vicinity of the installation site. With the growth of this type of generation, the implementation of a large number of photovoltaic systems not previously expected by the utility can overload the nearest power transformers, in addition to other effects on the power grid. This article aims to analyze the impacts on the power factor (PF) caused by photovoltaic systems of distributed generation in Consumer Units (UCs) of high voltage (group A), specifically at the Federal Rural University of Semiarid, Mossoró campus. It is also up to the article to review important concepts related to the existing tariff modalities, the pricing of group A consumers and the production and growth of the photovoltaic system at UFERSA - Campus Mossoró. The power factor values provided by the institution through the mass memory file of a campus meter will be shown and evaluated, and the influence on the local network and the compensatory methods to correct this factor will be discussed.
