Abstract

The use of electrical energy for climatization is increasing and within a scenario of the high cost of electrical energy consumption, shopping centers have more than 50% of the cost of their energy bill just for climatization. However, the implementation of thermoaccumulation allows for lowering production hours from peak hours, with higher tariffs, to off-peak hours and, consequently, results in significant savings in the energy bill. In this context, this work proposed the implementation of a thermoaccumulation system using cold water for a shopping center located in the northeast region of the country. To this end, a survey of the mall's equipment was carried out, and, based on the thermal load of cooling, the tank was dimensioned and the system with and without thermoaccumulation was analyzed. There was a saving of 19.34% in the cost related to the consumption of electrical energy.
