The 4BL four-bar linkage is a simple solution for power transmission due to its large range of motion output from the input to a known pure rotational motion. In order for a 4BL to be used for motion transmission, it first needs to be synthesized and then analyzed. The synthesis of 4BL consists of determining the lengths of the four bars of the mechanism by using a specific input movement. In the analysis, the kinematic parameters indicating the quality of the movement of the previously synthesized mechanism are determined. Among these parameters is the transmission angle, which represents a reference of the quality of motion transmission. In this article is presented a study carried out regarding the quality of force and movement transmission, through the transmission angle, for the generation of surface waves in a teaching tank using 4BL. The proposed methodology was implemented in a code written in Octave that allowed generating several 4BL for different desired wave heights.
