Abstract: African masks represent the culture of a people and their meaning varies according to the context of creation and use. Thus, this research aims to address the issue of African masks Gélédé about their cultural meaning and identity, highlighting the possibility of the applicability of the Law 10.639/03 to promote an anti-racist education. For this, we used the bibliographic methodology, anchored in the theoretical current of Cultural Studies: Hall, 2003, 2006, 2016. We conclude that the theme African masks Gélédé is complex and there is little research on the subject.
