O trabalho infantil na América Latina por uma perspectiva crítica

Abstract

This study aims to understand how human rights are applied to Latin American children and adolescents engaged in child labor, from a critical perspective. Grounded in colonialist practices and reinforced by neoliberal ideology, the concept of the universality of human rights corroborates the persistence of human rights violations, including child labor. By internalizing a matrix of humanity as the recipient of human rights, various profiles of humanity are marginalized and doomed to accept the violence they suffer because they are subjectively characterized as less worthy. In this sense, the aim is to revisit the exploitation of child labor according to the critical theory of human rights, emphasizing the neoliberal and imperialist collaborations that perpetuate the practice through the schematization of capital accumulation. Using the deductive method, with bibliographic and documentary research techniques, this study seeks to present the perspectives of child labor exploitation from a global view, to then explain the violation of human rights and its nuances according to the Latin American reality.
