WHAT INTERRELATIONS?

This article aims to analyze the impacts of the pesticide registration guidelines established by Law No. 14,785/2023 on the Brazilian National System of Food and Nutritional Security. Initially, it presents the concept of Food and Nutritional Security, its inclusion in the legal framework, and its relation with the Human Right to Adequate Food and Nutrition. Subsequently, it discusses the production of food and the use of pesticides in Brazil’s productive dynamics. Finally, a comparative analysis is conducted between Law No. 7,802/1989 and Law No. 14,785/2023, highlighting the main changes introduced in the registration process, their impacts, and their implications for pesticide control in the outlined context. It is concluded that the relaxation promoted by the new law may lead to a loosening of the registration system, representing a setback from a socio-environmental perspective for food and nutritional security.
